Episode Notes
On this week’s episode of Fanatical Fridays, Zach and Mickey continue their Summer Sessions series with a brainstorm on the future of college and university websites. Zach outlines a helpful framework for how to think about, audit, and augment the experience your website offers to mirror the experience of being on campus.
Furthermore, Zach shares predictions for what the future of college and university website experiences will offer. These predictions include:
- Search will not be ancillary to navigation, search IS navigation
- Video experiences and chat will be the rule, not the exception
- Websites will become more “choose your own adventure” and less “pre-architected”
- CMSes will be controlled by marketing not IT
- Digital experience will see the kind of conversion rates that today’s on-campus events do of 40-50%….and we’ll see actual campus visits start converting at higher rates. If people are willing to take jobs having never stepped foot in an office or met their team physically, populations of students will feel the same way about college.
